WELCOME TO OUR ALUMNI

Set up in 1986, the NZSSC recently celebrated 30 years as the national choir for New Zealand's secondary school aged singers. We estimate around 1000 young singers have been a part of the choir since it was first conceived by Guy Jansen and Roger Stevenson. Read about our early history: When Roger Met Guy: A National Choir is Born.

Following NZSSC membership, many of our alumni go on to join the NZ Youth Choir and create a legacy for New Zealand. Some turn into singing stars, like Jonathan Lemalu, Simon O'Neill, Anna Leese and Madeleine Pierard. Many go on to be music teachers sharing their skill and passion with thousands of students (from primary school level to universities), or direct and conduct dozens of community choirs from Dunedin to the Hawkes’ Bay, Wellington to Hamilton.

Below are featured some alumni who have carved out solo careers on the international stage. But we  celebrate all our alumni and will continue to bring news as exciting careers develop.
